The start page contains a search engine and contents recommended by BitComet.

Snapshots

If there is a video file contained in the task, one can see a snapshot of the file uploaded by other BitComet users. .

Comments on this task made by other BitComet users. Everyone is able to post a comment on the task. If any unsuitable or illegal content is contained in a comment, please report it to us by the report link.

The meaning of each coloured pieces can be found at the bottom of the piece map pane.

Statistics

Overall tasks: Total: Number of total tasks/ Running: Number of tasks that are downloading and uploading.
TCP Connections: Number of simultaneous TCP connections: Established / Half-Open: Amount of connection requests that are waiting for reply
LAN IP: Local area network’s IP address.
WAN IP: External IP address.
Listen port of TCP: Listen port for BitComet — TCP protocol.
Listen port of UDP: Listen port for BitComet — UDP protocol.
Windows Firewall: Information about Windows Firewall setup for BitComet. See Port Mapping in BitComet Options.
NAT port mapping: Information about the actual UPnP port mapping status. More about .

Overall Download Rate: Total download rate of all tasks / Max connection limit: Max connections number for each task.
Overall Upload Rate: Total upload rate of all tasks / LT Seeding: Total rate of all LT Seeding / All BT Upload Slots: All BT task upload connections.
Free Phys Mem: Currently free physical memory of operating system (Min to keep: Min memory to keep system operating normally).
Disk Cache size: Cache size that BitComet uses (Min: Minimum cache size set to use. Max: Maximum cache size set to use). To modify the cache settings go to Options→.
Disk Read Statistics: Number of disk read Requests, Actual Disk Reads and cache Hit Ratio (number of times — as a percentage of the total times — when data was read from the cache instead of the disk).
Disk Write Statistics: Number of disk write Requests, Actual Disk Writes and cache Hit Ratio (number of times — as a percentage of the total times — when data was written in the cache instead of the disk).

Total Downloaded: Total amount of data that was downloaded with BitComet.
Total Uploaded: Total amount of data uploaded with BitComet.

Go to Main Menu→“View”→“Status Bar” to show/hide the Status Bar.

Operation track:
1. Show operation tracks at main menu；
2. Show number of selected/displayed/total tasks.

CometID: This will remind you to sign in if you have not done so; If you have, your username will be shown in the CometID pane. Read more
- Right-click: Sign in/ Sign out of CometID.
- You are not required to sign in to CometID in order to use BitComet. You may ignore it entirely, if you so desire.

DHT Network: Indicates whether your client has connected to the DHT network. The number of DHT nodes your client knows about is shown when the DHT Network is connected.

Right-click: Enable/disable DHT network. Read more

Status Light: BT Client connection status.
- Right-click: Check again, Copy IP, Help.
  1. Check again: Re-check the connection status. Usually needed after a change in system setup or network that didn’t require a reboot.
  2. Copy IP: Copy the IP address and port number shown here, to the clipboard.
  3. Retry UPnP port mapping: This option is only available when you enable UPnP in “Options”. Click and BitComet will attempt to remap via UPnP again.
  4. Help: Click to view Help about the status light. Read more.

Status Light

When you start a BitComet session and are not in “No Listen Port” mode, your client sends a message to a BitComet probe server, requesting that the server send a probe to your IP address and listen port. Your client listens at the port for the probe, in order to determine the port’s status. The status light is an indication of, but is not definitive proof of your listen port status.

Gray: Unknown

A gray light means your client did not get a response to the connection attempt, from the probe server. The server may be down and unresponsive. The server may be blocked by your ISP, or may be temporarily unreachable due to network conditions. If this condition persists:

You might have a network problem. See whether you can connect to anybody, by any means, anywhere.
Your third-party firewall might be blocking BitComet. Make sure BC is allowed to access the Internet on all ports. (Do NOT disable your firewall! Configure it.)
The probe server might be down. Check the BitComet support forum for announcements of extended down time
Software you’ve installed might be blocking you. Check for software changes which might block connections to IP ranges.
Your ISP may block connections to the BitComet server. There is no solution for this. Try alternative methods mentioned below.
Rarely, it might just be a minor network glitch. Simply try again later.

Yellow: Blocked

An yellow light means BitComet successfully requested the probe, but did not detect it at your listen port. This indicates that the port is blocked by one or more firewalls. Your client can therefore reach other clients but other clients can not initiate contact with your client.

If your listen port is blocked you can still transfer files with BitComet, but your transfer speed probably won’t be very high.

If you control the firewall(s) that block the port, the it/they may be fixed by following the Create Firewall Rules and Port mapping guides. Read the Port Forwarding Guide on the forum, too.

If the firewall blocking the port is not under your control, then there is probably nothing that you can do about this and your client must operate in “No Listen Port” mode. If you have multiple firewalls, your listen port must be open on all of them. It only takes one to block the port.

Green: WAN

A green light means that BitComet requested the probe and received it on your listen port. This indicates that your listen port is open, so other peers can initiate contact with you through your firewall(s). An open port will provide you with the best transfer rates.

Описание BitComet

BitComet представляет собой достаточно мощный торрент-клиент, позволяющий скачивать файлы из BitTorrent на достаточно высокой скорости. Программа прекрасно справляется даже с очень большими файлами. Интерфейс программного продукта понятен на интуитивном уровне. Любой, даже начинающий пользователь ПК сможет освоить данный продукт.

Функционал

BitComet дает возможность одновременного скачивания нескольких файлов, а, кроме того, приостановки загрузки. Благодаря встроенной функции возможно общение с другими пользователями данного торрент-клиента. Можно также ограничить скорость загрузки и раздачи указанных файлов. Для наращивания скорости скачки разработчики расширили собственную технологию на протоколы HTTP/FTP. Это позволило в 10 раз увеличить скорость.

Это самый лучший клиент для скачивания файлов через интернет. Пользуюсь им регулярно. За время использования не было никаких проблем.

What is BitComet’ practice regarding cookies?

Закачка BitComet на компьютер

Установка на компьютер

Откройте файл установки на вашем компьютере.

Если при запуске всплывет окошко, информирующее о том, что скаченный файл может нанести вред вашему компьютеру, не беспокойтесь. Это происходит потому, что файл имеет расширение exe. Никакой угрозы он не представляет. Смело жмите «Запустить» — источник проверен.

В этом окошке нажимаем «Далее» для продолжения установки.

Теперь нам остается только:

выбрать язык
подписаться под лицензионным соглашением
указать, нужны ли вам ярлычки на рабочем столе и в меню «Пуск»
папку, в которую будет установлен BitComet
и нажать «Установить».

Когда установка подойдет к концу, достаточно нажать «Готово», и Вы станете счастливым обладателем удобного менеджера закачек.

Настройка программы

Необходимо отключить DHT!

Одним из немногих уязвимых мест этой программы можно назвать то, что через DHT, другие пользователи, удачно выявившие Ваш личный passkey, который отвечает за статистику, получат возможность скачивать файлы, используя Вашу учетную запись. Т.к. это никому не нужно, делаем так: «Настройки» — «Условия подключения» (Options\Preferences\Connection) видим галочку напротив Enable DHT Network, убираем ее и жмем «Ок».

Поиск требуемого контента

Осталось найти файлы, которые Вы хотите скачать на свой компьютер быстро, удобно и бесплатно. Существует великое множество разнообразных торрент-трекеров. Некоторые из них требуют обязательной регистрации, некоторые нет. С правилами ознакомиться, в любом случае, не помешает.

Следует учитывать, что чем крупнее сайт, с которого Вы собираетесь взять контент, тем шире выбор он предоставит. Это верно. Но верно также и то, что, чем популярнее и крупнее такой трекер, тем больше ограничений пытаются наложить на него правообладатели, зато контент Вы получите лицензионный и качественный.

Воспользовавшись стройкой поиска, нужно найти файл, который нужно скачать.

Закачка торрент-файла

Под описанием выбранного Вами файла найдите надпись-кнопочку «Скачать torrent».

В открывшемся окошке Вы сможете выбрать: «Сохранить» или «Скачать торрент-файл». Выбрать можно любое, но вдруг после скачивания эти файлы Вам ещё будут нужны. Поэтому лучше все же сохранить. Нажимаем «Использовать по умолчанию» -> «Сохранить».

Совет: используйте специально созданную папку для хранения скачанных торрент-файлов, это предотвратит беспорядок и облегчит поиск нужного.

Открыть торрент

Теперь остается лишь открыть BitComet, найти и выделить сохраненный торрент-файл, после чего нажать «Открыть». Программа предложит самому определить, где будет храниться скачанный файл.

После этого название файла появится в самой сетке BitComet.

Перед названием файла зеленая стрелочка указывает вниз, что может означать лишь одно — идет закачка файла.

Когда стрелочка станет красненькой и укажет вниз — закачка завершена. Ее можно приостановить в любой момент, если возникнет такая необходимость. Она продолжится с того же места — приобретенный прогресс утерян не будет. Так же происходит при незапланированном отключении. Например, если пропал свет и т.п.

Стоит помнить, что файлы, которые Вы скачиваете, автоматически становятся для других пользователей на раздачу.

Summary

Downloaded

Green bar: Shows download progress, that is, percentage of downloaded data vs. whole data size of the file(s) you chose to download.
Blue bar: shows the position of each piece and which piece is already downloaded.

Transfer:

Time Elapsed: Total time used on downloading this HTTP/FTP task.
Remaining: Time left to finish this HTTP/FTP task.
Downloaded: Data that has been downloaded.
Conn Num: Maximum connections number set for this task. (Connections being connected now).
Download Speed: The present download speed of this task.
Mirrors: Number of mirrors may be connected now. (Connected: Number of mirrors connected now.)
Down Limit: Shows the download limit you have set for this task.
Status: Shows the transfer status (e.g. downloading, uploading, paused, stopped etc.)

General:

Save as: Directory of the downloaded files.
Tags: Tags for this HTTP/FTP task.
Task Size: Total size of all files that are to be downloaded in this task.
Left Size: Amount of data left to download according to the whole file size.
Started On: Time when the HTTP/FTP task was created.
Finished On: Time when the HTTP/FTP download task was finished.
URL: Download URL or or (BC Links are obsoleted as of v.1.17) of the resource file(s) .
Refer: webpage of the download source file.
Description: Description for the download file in the download webpage.
: Opens the menu.

Connections

Columns’ order can be changed but column lines can not be sorted. Right click to copy URL to clipboard.

URL: site address of the download source file.
Download rate: Current download rate.
Download size: Amount of data downloaded by current connection.
Progress: Distribution of the downloaded part in the whole file.
Status: Current connection status.

You can right-click to copy all content to clipboard.

Method 3 — From Main Menu option

1) Open .torrent file on the computer

Left-click ”File –> Open Torrent“ in BitComet menu bar and open the .torrent file;
In the pop-up dialog, browse and navigate to the .torrent file you saved and click “Open”;

Tip: You can select multiple torrents at once and hit the “Open” button. This will open the properties dialog for all of them, one at a time, allowing you to add them all to the Task List.

2) Use a Magnet URI or direct URL or torrent info-hash

 Please note that with the introduction of support for Magnet Links in v.1.17, these 
 replaced the use of BC Links since they share the same basic principle (passing a hash value).

If you know the Magnet URI, the direct URL to the .torrent file or just the torrent value, but you don’t have it on your hard drive, you can select “File” then “Open Torrent form URL” .

Enter the Magnet URI or the URL of the .torrent file or the info-hash value in the pop-up form:

In the task list, you will see the .torrent file is being downloaded (a yellow downward-pointing arrow means that the .torrent file is being downloaded);

When the .torrent file’s download is finished, the BT task download window appears.

Tip: Starting with v.1.23 you can add multiple URLs at once. They will all be added to the Task List.

Check if port is forwarded properly automatically: Checked by default.
There will be a connection reminder light at the right corner of the BitComet status bar.

Send video file snapshot after download finished: Checked by default.
If this option is checked, 10 snapshots will be captured randomly after the download is finished and sent to the Comet snapshot server, if the torrent contains video file(s). These are the snapshots you and any other BitComet users can see in the Snapshots tab of the Detailed Info Pane, if a torrent task which BitComet downloads contains video file(s) (granted there were snapshots uploaded on the server by any user, for that torrent’s file(s)).

Query task comment and snapshot information automatically: Checked by default.
This info can be viewed in the Comments and Snapshots tabs from the Detailed Info Pane.
This may help you learn about that BT task from other users’ comments before the download starts.
