Running Yume 2kki using EasyRPG Player[]

As of EasyRPG Player version 0.6.2.3, the game can be played relatively well, with only minor glitches and inconsistencies. However, setting it up to run correctly requires a certain level of tweaking. The following instructions will guide you through the process.

Setting up Yume 2kki itself:

• Download the latest version of the game.
• Download the pre-installed RTP package.
• Either use an archiver that is unicode-aware, or temporarily set your system locale to Japanese until you unpack the abovementioned packages. Once they are extracted, you can revert to your original locale. If this step was successful, there should be no mojibake filenames present anywhere within the game’s directories.
• Merge in the contents of your recently extracted RTP into the game’s base folder (i.e. where the Backdrop, Battle, CharSet, etc. directories are), making sure not to overwrite anything.
• Open RPG_RT.ini (don’t worry if you see mojibake in here), and set FullPackageFlag to 1.

Setting up EasyRPG Player:

• Download the latest version.
• Extract the archive
• Copy Player.exe to the game’s base folder (it should be alongside RPG_RT.exe and Harmony.dll).
• And finally, launch the player. If everything has been set up as above, the game should look (and sound) practically identical to when it is run through RPG_RT.

Running Yume 2kki without a 3rd Party Software[edit | edit source]

This method is verified for Windows 10 onlyedit | edit source

If you don’t wish to use softwares like Locale Emulator or EasyRPG Player, then there is an easy method to setting up your computer to be able to run Yume 2kki, or other Japanese RPG Maker games, without the use of these programs. Just follow the steps below:

1. Locate your system’s language settings and install the Japanese language onto your device. This will allow your system to read Japanese characters.
2. After installing the Japanese language, locate and change your system locale settings (aka non-Unicode program configuration). Set your system locale to Japanese (Japan). Your system will need to restart after this.
3. Download the RTP here (Mirror)
4. Start the game

This should allow the game to run without any problems. Please leave a comment in case there are any issues.

Not installing the Japanese language before switching your system locale to Japanese could potentially break your system, though this isn’t guaranteed, so be careful while setting up your system.

Installing Locale Emulator for Windows 10[]

Installing Locale Emulator and the Japanese RPG Maker 2000 RTP

Since AppLocale is incompatible with Windows 10, a program called Locale Emulator will be used instead. (Keep scrolling for information on how to run Yume 2kki without using a 3rd party software)
Download the latest version of Locale Emulator from
If, when following the instructions, the game does not operate correctly, download Time Zones.zip.

1. Extract Locale.Emulator.x.x.x.x.zip, and move the extracted files to a permanent location. (because you will NOT be able to move these files after installation).
2. Open LEInstaller.exe and click on Install / Upgrade. Make sure to save any documents open in Windows File Explorer, as the program will restart them automatically, regardless of which button is pressed.
3. After LE has installed, run LEGUI.exe, which will provide the information needed to display the game in Japanese.
4. You should now see «Locale Emulator» in the context menu when right-clicking on files.

Locale Emulator will be used to install the RTP and later to run Yume 2kki. To install the RTP using Locale Emulator:

1. Download the RTP here (Mirror)
2. If you downloaded a ZIP file, extract the contents. Otherwise, if you downloaded an EXE file, run it and allow it to extract. In the extracted files will be a file called RPG2000RTP.exe.
3. Right click on RPG2000RTP.exe, go to the «Locale Emulator» dropdown menu and click «Run in Japanese»
4. Follow the installer. The «next» button should be highlighted by default.

If you have attempted to install the RTP before and failed, or have difficulties installing the RTP, make sure other versions of the RTP have been uninstalled through Programs and Features in the Control Panel and try again.

Note: If the Japanese RTP is stuck at 44%, either download from this English RTP instead, or change the system locale to Japanese, as the issue is related to the use of non-Unicode characters. The steps to changing the system locale are as follows:

1. Open the Control Panel, and select «Clock, Language and Region».
2. Click «Region», then select the «Administrative» tab.
3. Click «Change system locale…», and select «Japanese (Japan)». Do not select the option to set the encoding to UTF-8, assuming that the option is available. Doing so will cause various issues in displaying the game’s text, and in installing the RTP.
4. Click «OK» for both windows, and restart your computer.

Another Note: If it’s not working when trying to extract the contents using the ZIP file then try downloading the EXE file and run with the simulator.

Microsoft AppLocale – это приложение, позволяющее комфортно работать с особенно старыми программами, в которых отсутствует поддержка Unicode. Обычно у таких программ появляются ошибки связанные отображением не латинских символов. Например, вместо кириллических букв в интерфейсе отображаются неизвестные символы. Такая проблему решается путем смены локализации самой операционной системы, но за чем усложнять себе жизнь, если существует такое замечательное приложение. Принцип работы Microsoft AppLocale построен на принудительной смене значения переменной “system locale” для запускаемых программ. Это простой способ избавления от некорректного отображения кириллицы.

В процессе установки самого Microsoft AppLocale вам будет предложено выбрать нужное значение, язык. Селектор предлагает огромное количество языков, в том числе русский, белорусский и украинский. К большому огарчению, само приложение поддерживает не все версии Windows. Например, установить Microsoft AppLocale на Windows 10 удается не всегда, так что пользователям “десятки”, остается лишь надеяться на выпуск обновлений или менять язык систем самостоятельно, или пользоваться альтернативами.

Установщик приложения следует запускать исключительно от имени администратора. По завершении его работы вы не увидите панели управления, да и вообще какой-либо графической оболочки, потому как она здесь отсутствует. Изменить ранее установленное значение для “system locale” можно только с помощью командной строки.

Скачайте программу AppLocale (ссылка проверенна на наличие вирусов) P.S. Если не удается скачать обращайтесь к администрации. Установите программу. Запускаем: Пуск -> Все программы -> Microsoft AppLocale -> AppLocale

Нажимаем кнопку Browse…

Найдите папку с игрой (куда установили) и выберите файл X52.exe, затем нажмите Открыть

Жмем Next (ничего не меняем).

Поставьте галочку и введите название ярлыка (например, QQ Dance 2), затем нажмите Finish.

Чтобы вечно не искать AppLocale делаем следующее: Пуск -> Все программы -> Microsoft AppLocale -> Ваш ярлык, ПКМ, Отправить на рабочий стол ( создать ярлык).

Если при установке вылезает ошибка, то в свойствах надо поменять совместимость. Обычно либо с предыдущей версией винды, либо с ХР.

Ваш ярлык появится на рабочем столе. С него и надо будет теперь всегда запускать QQ Dance 2. Приятной игры!

Думаю, ни для кого не секрет что зачастую программы и игры из страны восходящего солнца отказываются работать на Windows-системах с локалью, отличной от японской. Причина на то обычно довольно простая: зачастую файлы в творениях японских программистов названы иероглифами и их имена портятся при распаковке, либо сама программа не может обратиться к файлам по японским именам.

Одним из решений проблемы с распаковкой является использование подходящих архиваторов, однако для запуска вам всё равно потребуется японская локаль. Также, используя японскую локаль можно распаковывать игру вашим привычным 7zip или WinRAR и имена будут в порядке. Если игра распостраняется в виде установщика, а не архива, это также остаётся почти единственным решением проблемы.

Самым простым способом смены локали Windows является простое переключение её в настройках. Однако такой способ крайне неудобен: для смены локали туда и обратно каждый раз потребуется закрытие всех програм и перезаход в систему. Поэтому гораздо удобнее воспользоваться программами, которые эмулируют нужную локаль, благо их довольно много.

Самым старейшим эмулятором локали является Microsoft Applocale. Не устанавливайте его! Поскольку данный эмулятор написан рукоjопами Microsoft, при установке он вносит в систему некоторые изменения, которые в дальнейшем доставят вам множество головной боли. Например, установщики многих программ начнут использовать японский язык при установке и даже удаление программы это не исправит.

Существуют различные программы от более толковых людей для этой цели, сейчас я перечислю их. Ни один из эмуляторов не является универсальным решением, так что если игра не работает с одним, просто попробуйте другие! Архиваторы и установщики, как правило, работают с любым из списка.

Интерфейс предельно прост. Все настройки изначально выбраны для эмуляции японской локали, поэтому всё что вам остаётся – выбрать нужную программу в поле AppPath и нажать Save & Run. NTLEAS отлично справляется с запуском большинства игр, поэтому вполне стоит того, чтобы в первую очередь попробовать именно его.

Ну тут всё предельно понятно, даже добавить нечего. Позволяет запустить некоторые более свежие 64-разрядные приложения, с которыми не всегда справляется NTLEAS.

Запуск приложения с японской локалью осуществляется командой: SBAppLocale.exe 1041 “C:\путь-до-приложения.exe” Пользовался я им мало, поэтому про охват работающих приложений ничего не скажу.

Вот и всё Существуют и другие эмуляторы, но они часто не работают на Win10 или с 64-разрядными приложениями, поэтому рекомендую для начала ознакомиться с этими Если кто-то знает другие хорошие варианты – можете писать в теме)
