• build system: fixed filtering out optimization options when compiling the file (before only numeric optimization levels were filtered out and only if it wasn’t the last option in the list of flags). See #3105 for context.
• build system: when libmagic was detected via , MKVToolNix was actually compiled without support for libmagic due to a preprocessor symbol not being defined.
• mkvmerge: MP4 reader: fixed an issue with timestamps overflowing when the file’s or the track’s time scale is large. Fixes #3124.
• mkvmerge, mkvextract: fixed key frame handling for elements with a forward reference but no backward references. Patches by Tom Yan.
• mkvmerge, mkvpropedit, MKVToolNix GUI’s chapter editor: the programs will no longer omit writing mandatory elements set to their default value if other elements of the same type are present in the same master. This affects mostly the “chapter language” element which may occur multiple times within the same “chapter display” master. * mkvmerge: track selection: when using language tags for selecting which tracks to keep, mkvmerge will now use component-based language tag matching instead of comparing them verbatim. This means that only those components (language, region etc.) the user specified will be required to exist and be equal. For example, if a file contains three subtitle tracks with languages `es` (generic Spanish), `es-MX` (Spanish as spoken in Mexico) and `es-ES` (Spanish as spoken in Spain), the user can use `—stracks es` to match all three tracks or be more specific with e.g. `—stracks es-MX` which would only match one track. * HEVC dumper development tool: the tool has been renamed to `xvc_dump` and extended to be able to dump AVC/H.264 bitstreams, too. It now also detects the type of bitstream framing (ISO 14496-15 vs. ITU-T H.264/H.265 Annex B).

* all: IETF BCP 47/RFC 5646 language tags: fixed a corner case of wrongfully allowing scripts/variants not listed in any of the entries in the prefix list when the prefix list contains prefixes restricting scripts/variants and a prefix solely with the language at the same time (example: the variant `ekavsk` with its prefixes `sr`, `sr-Cyrl` and `sr-Latn` where e.g. `sr-ekavsk` and `sr-Cyrl-ekavsk` should be allowed but not `sr-Bali-ekavsk`).
* mkvmerge: HEVC/H.265: the frame type of B frames was often wrongfully signalled as P frames instead, both with `BlockGroup` (missing second references) and `SimpleBlock` («discardable» flag not set) elements.
* mkvmerge: SSA/ASS packetizer: the frame numbers will now be re-calculated when appending SSA/ASS tracks so that frame numbers of appended tracks are always strictly higher than frame numbers of the track they’re appended to.

На текущий момент воспроизводить MKV могут многие плееры, как бытовые так и компьютерные.

MKV кодеки и сплиттеры.

Для полноценного воспроизведения вам понадобится MKV сплитер и набор различных кодеков.

Сплиттер — предназначен для открытия контейнера, а кодеки нужны для декодирования находящихся внутри контейнера аудио и видео.

Для установки в систему всех популярных кодеков и сплиттеров(для каждого контейнера свой сплиттер ) воспользуйтесь такими популярными пакетами как K Lite Codec Pack или Combined Comunity Codec Pack ( CCCP). Они содержат всё необходимое для просмотра как MKV так прочих форматов.

Эти наборы вам просто необходимы если плеер которым вы пользуетесь не содержит встроенных кодеков. Существует не не мало популярных плееров которые уже имеет встроенные сплиттеры и кодеки для всех форматов. Некоторые перечислены ниже.

Media Player Classic Home Cinema

Очень хороший и простой медиаплеер. Основной его конёк — чтение всех форматов. Для MKV формата он прежде всего эффективен тем, что не грузит сильно процессор. Рекомендуется в первую очередь слабым компьютерам или ноутбукам в режиме аккумулятора.

KMPlayer

Очень мощный и качественный плеер. Также способен хорошо проигрывать MKV формат не сильно налегая на процессор. Может воспроизводить MkV , видео которого имеет высокий битрейт. У плеера очень много возможностей.

Gom Player

хороший всеядный плеер, но на высоких битрейтах потребует хорошей производительности ПК.

Почему MKV видео тормозит.

Если видео MKV тормозит или звук отстаёт от видео, то это явный признак недостаточной мощности воспроизводящей системы, можно попробовать воспроизводить в разных плеерах, это помогает в некоторых случаях, так как медиа плееры по разному способны проигрывать MKV формат.

В большинстве случаев причиной таких «тормозов» будет AVC ( H.264) кодек, которым закодировано видео в MKV контейнере. Дело в том что он очень требователен к процессору, и если вы просматривает Full HD на одноядерном процессоре то тормоза вам обеспечены. Решить проблему можно если например перекодировать из AVC в Mpeg2, который достаточно лоялен к ресурсам. Но лучше приобрести современный компьютер, что бы пользоваться HD на полную мощь.

Процесс склеивания видеофайлов

Перед тем как склеить видео, содержащееся в двух или нескольких видеофайлах необходимо для начала открыть в программе только первый видеофайл. Для этого необходимо в области «Исходные файлы» окна программы нажать правую кнопку мыши и выбрать пункт меню «Добавить файлы».

Появиться стандартное окно выбора файла для добавления, где следует найти нужный файл и открыть его.

Этот видеофайл должен добавиться в список исходных файлов. Теперь на стоке для этого файла нужно нажать правой кнопкой мыши и выбрать пункт меню «Присоединить файлы».

Снова откроется окно выбора файла. И теперь необходимо выбрать второй файл или даже сразу несколько оставшихся файлов (кроме первого) для присоединения.

Убедившись, что в списке исходных файлов содержатся все нужные части, следует задать имя выходного файла и нажать кнопку «Выполнить объединение».

В итоге будет получен новый файл, в котором будут объединены все нужные части нашего видео.

Следует отметить, что при желании можно отключить ненужные аудио или видео дорожки (например если их несколько в каждом фрагменте). Для этого нужно отметить или снять соответствующие им галочки.

• Introduction

If you want to compile the tools yourself then you must first decide if you want to use a ‘proper’ release version or the current development
version. As both Matroska and MKVToolNix are under heavy development there might be features available in the Git source code repository that are
not available in the releases. On the other hand the Git source code repository version might not even compile.

Download

Either download the release
61.0.0 (GPG signature) and unpack it or get a fresh
copy from my Git source code repository.

You can download older releases from the sources directory.

Requirements

In order to compile MKVToolNix you need a couple of libraries and programs. Most of them should be available pre-compiled for your
distribution. You can find the up-to-date list in the .

Building and installing MKVToolNix from source

Instructions for
building ,
and itself are part of
the README.md file. You can either build from a release tarball or from the current sources in my Git
repository.

Building a DEB package for Debian/Ubuntu

Building binary packages for Debian and Ubuntu either from my Git
sources or from a release tarball is pretty easy. The following
steps assume that you’re not but may
use .

First you will need to active my / APT repository in order to be able
to install the package as that is not provided by the distributions yet.

Now install a couple of packages needed for building MKVToolNix:

Next download either a release tarball or get a development
snapshot from my git repository, rename one of its
sub-directories, call a helper script and lastly build the packages
themselves. For a release tarball, e.g. v61.0.0, you have to do the
following:

MKVToolNix Review

Note: I tested MKVToolNix on Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit using mkvmerge GUI and several other tools opened from the Command Prompt such as mkvinfo. Therefore, if you’re looking for more information on how to compile MKVToolNix yourself, check the README file (online). I wanted to test two things: the mkvmerge GUI (software interface) and see how easy or hard is to use the command line for all the other tools such as «mkvinfo.»

The software interface (mkvmerge GUI)

As soon as the setup finished, I opened the «mkvmerge GUI» shortcut from my desktop. At a first look, the interface seems quite intuitive, so my first action was to open an MKV file, select an option and see the result. I went to program interface at the «Input» tab and used the «Add» button (it also works using the «drag and drop» method. 

I selected a 710 MB MKV file and I wanted to split this (from «Global» tab — select «Split Mode» — «split after size» and then I specified the size — in this case 50M = 50MB) in smaller files with a size of 50 MB for each. Finally, I clicked on «Start Muxing» button. 

The program required just 45 seconds for this operation, and the result was 14 smaller MKV files. After this, I wanted to mux the content of an AVI file in MKV format. Again, I went to «Input» tab and used the «Add» button, I selected an AVI file from my computer, and I noticed that the program displayed the Output filename automatically with the name of the same file but this time in MKV (Matroska) format. 

Again, the same button called «Start Muxing» was doing all the magic. This time the process was even faster — at the end I could read the following message «Muxing took 34 seconds».

Other command line tools (example: mkvinfo)

To use all the other command line tools in Windows, open a Command Prompt window. Just hit the «Start» button, click on «Search programs and files» (Windows 7 and Vista) or «Run» (Windows XP and others) and type either «cmd» or «command prompt» (without the quotes). 

In the command prompt, you can try each program (mkvmerge, mkvinfo, mkvextract, mkvpropedit) by typing its name and the usage parameters. An example would be: «mkvinfo —help» that will display a list with all the commands available. I tried mkvinfo using this command: «mkvinfo -g» and the result was a small interface that allowed me to open an MKV file and see all kind of technical details about it. I was also able to save the results in the TXT format.

Tips

You can launch an instance of mkvmerge GUI (software interface) directly from the command prompt. Just type «mmg» and hit «Enter.»

Final Conclusion

You can learn how to use several main features in minutes but to master the program, it does require more time. Your best bet is to experiment all of his options and whenever you need some help, check the FAQ section (filled with great answers to common issues), start with the guide of mkvmerge GUI here and check the documentation for all the other tools — here (provided once again). MKVToolNix is a «must-have» software if you work with MKV files. It has an incredible amount of features that are not listed on the homepage. New features and enhancements

• mkvmerge, MKVToolNix GUI’s multiplexer: the handling of the “default track” flag has been changed to match the recent changes to the Matroska specifications. The new semantics are that if it is set, it is supposed to signal to the player that this track is eligible for being played by default, potentially taking other factors such as user preferences regarding languages into account. This implies that more than one track of each type can have this flag set. For example, a Blu-ray disc with three audio tracks might have the main audio in both English and Japanese, whereas the third audio track contains the director’s comments. In such a case the first two tracks should have the “default track” flag set, the third one shouldn’t. Earlier was enforcing that only one track of each type could have the flag set. This restriction has been removed, both in and in the GUI’s multiplexer. and the GUI’s header editor are unaffected as they’ve always allowed to set the flag on as many tracks as the user wanted.
• mkvmerge: AVC/H.264 & HEVC/H.265 identification: added the stream’s pixel dimensions (AVC only; were present for HEVC already) & default duration. Implements #3116.
• mkvmerge, mkvextract: HEVC/H.265: added support for reading single-layer Dolby Vision from Annex B type bitstreams (elementary streams, MPEG transport streams). Patch by quietvoid. Implements #3113.
• mkvinfo: the option / now affects all binary elements, not just the frame data in and elements.
• MKVToolNix GUI: multiplexer: the “delay” and “sync” options can now be used for chapters in source files, too. Implements #3129.
• MKVToolNix GUI: when moving list entries up & down with the optional buttons or the keyboard shortcuts (instead of using drag & drop), the GUI ensures that the top-most selected entry remains visible after the move. Implements #3123.
