IrfanView is a simple image viewer software with support for a multitude images formats.

Windows operating system can show images using his own image viewer software. This viewer can be enough for some users, but for others it is necessary a program with more options and possibilities.

IrfanView displays images and pictures quickly. The program is compatible with a large number of image formats: PNG, JPG, GIF, animated GIF, BMP, TIFF, etc. In addition it can play video and sound files, although this is not their primary function.

The program is notable for its simplicity of use and ease to show the images in a directory. Once installed, we can associate image files with this program, so when we double click on any image, ti will be opened in this program. For example, if we want to see the images in a directory, we can use Windows Explorer and double-click on any image, then it will launch this program and display the selected image. We can now use left and right arrow keys to scroll through the images. If an image is rotated and we want to change the rotation we need to press R or L key. R = rotate 45 degrees the image to the right, L = rotate 45 degrees the image to the left.

We have the ability to view images in slideshow mode. That is to say, we will select multiple images, and these will be displayed one after the other after a few seconds of pause between them. We can choose the images that will be part of the presentation, or we can include all the images from a directory without having to manually select one at a time. We can choose pause time between image and image, display in full screen or window, etc.

Another interesting option is batch conversion and rename. We can select multiple images and convert them to another format, for example from JPEG to PNG. We can also select multiple images and rename them in batch.

If we are looking for an image, and didn’t find one, we can use this program, because it incorporates an internal search engine with which we can search for images in all PC units. In addition to search by name and extension, we can search int the EXIF and IPTC image fields.

Another interesting option is the possibility of using the program to scan documents or images, since it’s able to recognize connected scanner our PC and save an image of the scanned document, or even to send scanned document to printer directly.

IrfanView includes a simple image editor with which we can add text, lines, shapes, delete parts of the image, freehand, etc. We can also crop the image to a specific area, or insert another image as a watermark. We can also resize the image with the least loss of quality using one of the following algorithms: Lanczos, B-Spline, Mitchell, Bell, Triangle, and Hermite. It is also possible to add image filters such as: black-and-white, invert color, color correction, replacement of color, red-eye reduction, sepia, and more.

The program supports plug-ins that extend the basic functionality. For example, we can add the option of Optical Character Recognition (OCR), include a media player, modify EXIF data in JPEG files, and more.

The program is able to detect whether an image has the wrong extension and it will alert us when we open the image, offering the possibility of correcting the extension of the file. For example if we open a .png file, which in reality is a .jpg file, the program will detect it and can fix file’s extension.

Обзор IrfanView.

Установить Русский Язык.

После установки программы запустите файл irfanview_lang_russian.exe  который находится в архиве. Затем через вкладку Options — Change Language.. в открывшемся окне выберите русский язык.

То что IrfanView открывает даже MKV и M2TS видео это очень хорошо, но как плеер он очень скудноват и обладает самыми базовыми возможностями.

Как сделать IrfanView на русском языке

Чтобы пользоваться графическим редактором IrfanView на русском языке, потребуется дополнительно загрузить русификатор. Это плагин, который можно загрузить на официальном сайте разработчика. Запустить его нужно сразу после установки IrfanView на ПК. Если используется переносная версия сервиса, то пользователю нужно распаковать архив с самой утилитой, а затем архив с русификатором.

После распаковки требуется выбрать папку Language из архива русификатора, скопировать из нее файлы Russian.dll и IP_Russian.lng, переместить их в одноименную языковую папку, но только уже в архив самой программы. Далее следует запустить IrfanView, найти кнопку Options, выбрать панель смены языка и поменять на “Русский”. Далее нужно нажать клавишу “Ок”. После этого программа будет русифицирована.

IrfanView — графический редактор, с помощью которого можно работать с изображениями разных форматов. Приложение также воспроизводит аудио- и видеофайлы. Утилита имеет широкий функционал, простой интерфейс, русскоязычную версию. Пользователи могут расширять возможности IrfanView  и скачивать с официального сайта дополнительные плагины для профессионального редактирования. Несмотря на массу преимуществ, сервис имеет и свой главный минус — необходимость скачивать русификатор для работы в русскоязычной версии утилиты. Также ее недостатком можно считать возможность установки только на устройства с ОС Windows.

Как скачать и установить?

Чтобы утилита работала корректно, следуйте нашей инструкции:

1. Скачиваем утилиту с официального сайта.
2. Дважды щелкаем на скачанный файл.
3. Всплывет диалоговое окно, в котором нужно выбрать, куда будет установлена утилита.
4. По умолчанию нам предложат установить файл на диск С (C :\ Program Files \ IrfanView \), но можно изменить папку назначения, просто введя новый путь через кнопку Browse.
5. Нажимаем «далее».
6. В новом окне утилита предложить ассоциировать с ней файлы с расширениями, указанными в окне установки. Проставляем галочку в нужном поле и снова нажимаем «далее».
7. Программа IrfanView готова к установке. Снова жмем «далее» и IrfanView устанавливается на компьютер.

Как мы видим, в установке IrfanView нет ничего сложного. По умолчанию утилита скачивается на английском языке и пользователю потребуется ее руссифицировать. Ниже поговорим о том, как это сделать.

Просмотр видео и прослушивание аудио в IrfanView

В программе IrfanView можно воспроизвести видео файлы, прослушать музыку. Для этого необходимо установить плагины, расширяющие возможности программы (выше я рассказал, как это сделать). В IrfanView поддерживается QuickTime для открытия Apple Quicktime файлов.

Откройте в программе папку с видео или аудио файлами, выделите нужный файл, а затем выберите тип файлов: «Все поддерживаемые Video файлы» или «Все поддерживаемые Sound файлы».

Далее смотрите видео, или слушайте музыку в IrfanView.

В программе IrfanView можно открыть документы следующих тестовых форматов: PDF, DJVU, TXT.

IrfanView is a photo viewer and editor that’s been around for a long time and seen countless improvements since its inception. IrfanView’s creator, Irfan Skilijan, has released over 70 versions, so you can expect the program’s toolkit to be competitive. 

Well-known programs like Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom excel at photo enhancement. However, there are times when a straightforward and easy tool is all that is required to improve your picture.  IrfanView is a simple but powerful tool for enhancing any digital image. The app will render files for your blog or batch-scan documents and produce clearer, lighter, and sharper images.

What is IrfanView used for?

IrfanView is a photo viewer and editor that allows for more robust image browsing than most operating systems’ default image viewer while still enabling photo editing (and batch editing), such as red-eye correction, cropping, and inserting borders, among other typical tasks. IrfanView has improved over time to become much better for its intended purposes.
