x64 Support

MediaPortal fully supports 64 bit for the client version now. It improves performance of UI and also video playback (especially with 4k videos).
You are still able to start it in 32 bit, there are two different shortcuts to start MediaPortal 2, the preferred type can be also selected by right click on «MP2-Client Launcher» in task bar.

App Launcher integration

App Launcher was existing as optional plugin and is fully integrated into MediaPortal 2 now also offering Home Content.

The functionality was extended to also allow customized menu tiles for the home menu.

System

Controls: Eject command for CD/DVD/Blu-ray disc media

GUI: Fixed font rendering engine causing random crashes

Audio: ‘Artist’ and ‘Album Artist’ filter display same artist multiple times

TV: Fix «Pause» image displayed when changing TV channels

Input: New Wifi remote plugin which can potentially be used with mobile apps as a remote control or with home automation in future

Stub Support

We implemented stub support for movies, series and albums. When a disc is inserted the matching stub will be found. A prompt will be shown to insert the media if disc is not found. Series discs that contain multiple episodes will be created as a multi part episodes. When using NFO files together with the stub files, the part will be read from the NFO file to generate media details.

Scanning Channels

This section is broken into sections, firstly for DVB-S/S2 scanning, secondly for DVB-T/T2 scanning and lastly for DVB-C/C2 scanning. 

Note: MP will allow more than one tuner of any type to run a channel scan at the same, so you do not have to wait for one tuner to finish scanning before you start with the next scan.

DVB-S/S2

The DVB-S/S2 tuning section allows tuning with diseqc, however this guide does not currently address this functional capability.

Important Note: UK DVB-S/S2 transmissions do not allow detection of channels that are off air at the time of scanning. Therefore, to get a full complement of channels you will generally need to run a scan during the daytime (for CBBC & CITV etc), and then another scan after 19:00 hrs (for BBC3 & BBC4 etc). 

1. Click on the menu TV Servers > Your Server > DVB-S/S2_Tuner_1
2. Put a tick in the #1 option
3. Change the Satellite drop-down list to 28.2°E Astra (this is the UK Freesat satellite — if not using this satellite then select your desired one)
4. If you have more than one type of TV source (other tuner or IPTV), put a tick in the Create Groups For: Digital Satellite option.
5. If the card you are tuning is a DVB-S2 card, then put a tick in the Enable DVB-S2 Channel Tuning/Scanning option.
6. Put a tick in the Enable Channel Movement Detection option
7. Click on the Update Satellite List button (this will download the latest tuning details for your chosen satellite)
8. Click on the Scan for Channels button to start the scan
9. When the scan is complete, the progress bar will show 100% and MP will report a list of the new/updated TV and radio channels detected during the scan
10. Repeat the above process as necessary for each of your DVB-S/S2 tuners

DVB-T/T2

1. Click on the menu TV Servers > Your Server > DVB-T/T2_Tuner_1
2. Using the drop-down list, select your country
3. Using the drop-down list, select your region (if you live in the UK and don’t know your region, then enter your postcode into this website and find your local transmitter).
4. If you have more than one type of TV source (other tuner or IPTV), put a tick in the Create Digital Terrestrial Group option
5. Put a tick in the Enable Channel Movement Detection option
6. Click on the Scan for Channels button
7. When the scan is complete, the progress bar will show 100% and MP will report a list of the new/updated TV and radio channels detected during the scan
8. Repeat the above process as necessary for each of your DVB-T/T2 tuners

DVB-C/C2

1. Click on the menu TV Servers > Your Server > DVB-C/C2_Tuner_1
2. Using the drop-down list, select your country
3. Using the drop-down list, select your scan parameters or cable provider.
4. If you have more than one type of TV source (other tuner or IPTV), put a tick in the Create Digital Cable Group option
5. Put a tick in the Enable Channel Movement Detection option
6. Click on the Scan for Channels button
7. When the scan is complete, the progress bar will show 100% and MP will report a list of the new/updated TV and radio channels detected during the scan
8. Repeat the above process as necessary for each of your DVB-C/C2 tuners

I just love it.
It is very easy to install, it download the file I need and install if I dont have it.
That is alot of nice plugin and other that make it so easy to use it.
Well yes that have happend that is not so easy to understand but the forum they have is very good and people is very nice to help.

As a free tool you need to google around and use the forums to get the most from this tool but evetually you can get it all setup. Find it stable now and very flexible if you spend the time to set it up. Now the family have a great UI. I use Imon remote that came with silverstone case. lcd and remote work well with media portal app.

Previous review is unfair; this is a work in progress and it’s free.
It looks a great deal better than BeyondTV, Showshifter, MCE, MyTheatre, iMedian, GBPVR, Meedio, and the others.
I’ve found that GBPVR has very bad stuttering when playing back live TV — this doesn’t happen with MediaPortal or Showshifter.
Media Portal supports multiple DVB-T cards, plus analog MPEG2 capture cards + devices — BeyondTV still does not support DVB-T cards, and Meedio does not *officially* support more than one DVB-T card at a time. GBPVR supports multiple DVB-T cards and analog cards, but I think you have to specifically assign which channels you want to view against each DVB card which is painful.
However, GBPVR does allow you to have Media MVP devices around the house that can receive video from the central GBPVR — I don’t think this is possible with Media Portal just yet.
Certainly, Media Portal has it’s irritations; it still occasionally causes a BSOD when performing DVD playback for example.
But its potential (its source code is open, it’s free, but it doesn’t suffer the from hardware support strangling that occurs in Linux) makes it worth sticking with — and there are some really neat plugins such as being able to view lots and lots of movie trailers (assuming your Media PC has a connection to the internet), plus it’s reasonably easy to get it to function with the myriad of remote controls out there.
The Lady of The House likes it, despite the fact it crashes occasionally (much less now it’s reaching an official 0.2.0 release). She likes the cute little chap with the Popcorn when playing DVD’s, and how he changes depending on what functionality is being used.
And believe me that’s more important than the occasional instability if you want to have your Media Centre accepted underneath the TV.

The reviews I read tell of a different software than I installed. Lots of bugs, lots of errors. Not very smart programing at all.
The music selection is poor. I have a directory of ogg files, which the program scanned in, read the id3 tags, and added to it’s database. Which is another problem with this program, the database just isn’t there, it’s more of a directory listing. When you attempt to play an ogg file, it passes it off as an mp3 file to Windows media player. WMP errors out and doesn’t play the file.
Movie selection shows a default icon without a video preview.
It has potential, but Media Portal needs a database and catalog program. In it’s current state, it is nothing more than using windows explorer with a background. Not an HTPC app in it’s current state.
To be honest Google’s Picasa or ACDSee is a better HTPC app than this program.

We are proud to present MediaPortal 2.2 Final

Since the recent release of MediaPortal 2.2pre, we fixed some minor things. We now proudly present the final version of our next major release of MediaPortal 2 in version 2.2.

MediaPortal 2.2 is a full-blown media center software that addresses the most common user requirements out of the box. Besides its TV and Radio services it is also offering a complete media management for movies, series and music, including posters, album and fan art as well as additional metadata (e.g. actor, director and much more) that are automatically downloaded from the internet. MediaPortal 2.2 also provides access to online video sources such as Amazon Prime. Integrated news, weather information and management for your digital images complete this software package.

There is a long list of changes – you can find all details in the end of this news – major changes are:

Input Management

The previous Input Device Manager plugin has been completely rewritten, allowing now to control not only Key Management, but also Screen Management. You can now assign special shortcuts to switch from one screen to the other directly. (i.e. assign a special shortcut to jump to TV, or TV Guide)

The GUI for the Input Management is now much more intuitive and allows you to first chose the action and then the key combination to map to that action. It’s now possible to see, remove or modify existing key mappings already assigned to a specific action quickly and more reliably.

Introduction

Most of the menus within the TV-Server Configuration are self explanatory, but a little bit of introduction is needed to the second menu in the list: TV Servers. This menu is where all your tuners are configured and where you scan your channels. 

If you expand the menu TV Servers by clicking on the + symbol you will find a single sub menu which is named the same as the network name of your particular PC (referred to as ‘Your Server’ in this guide to avoid confusion). Click on the + symbol again to display all the tuners you have installed in your PC. This guide refers to these as:

• DVB-C/C2_Tuner_N — for a cable tuner
• DVB-T/T2_Tuner_N — for a terrestrial tuner
• DVB-S/S2_Tuner_N — for a satellite tuner

where N is number of tuners of the particular type you have fitted.

Depending on your tuner drivers, you may see more tuners than you actually have, e.g. if the driver supports different types of DVB tuners.  If you see tuners here that you don’t have (e.g. DVB-S when you have DVB-C), just untick the corresponding boxes to prevent confusion.

If you are using a Common Interface (CI) Conditional Access module (CAM) to access coded channels, select each tuner which uses a CAM, click the edit button and tick the box to enable the CAM under CAM Setup in the Edit card properties dialog box which appears.  This is usually sufficient, but check the other options in the dialog to see if any apply.  For further details see Configuration > TV-Server Configuration >TV_Servers.

Note: The reason why ‘Your Server’ is listed is because the original design for MP was intended to allow multiple servers to work together. However this was never successfully achieved and so this menu layout is a legacy of this intent. It will be possible to do this with MP2 in the future though!

После настройки внутри приложения можно запустить практически любую доступную программу, разработанную для «Смарт ТВ».
Не нужно устанавливать кучу приложений на телевизор. Все программы запускаются через сторонние адреса внутри Media Station X, при этом они не забивают память телевизора. Значит, телеприемник не будет засоряться со временем и тормозить.
Можно открыть приложения, для настройки которых ранее требовалось изменять настройки телевизора. Например, чтобы установить ForkPlayer, ранее требовалось делать смену DNS-сервера в сетевых параметрах телевизионного приемника. Сейчас же браузер ForkPlayer доступен внутри «Медийной станции».
Решается проблема с неработающим Youtube. Если по каким-то причинам больше не работает «Ютуб», зависает, не грузятся видео и т. д., то в «станции» можно без проблем запустить видеохостинг. Причем его внешний вид, меню не будут отличаться от стандартного официального приложения.

Installation, Upgrade, Download and Feedback

Installation

• Extract the downloaded zip archive and simply run the MP2 Setup file.The installer will automatically download any missing components and install them.

Upgrade

• MediaPortal 2.1 introduced a new media database structure that is not compatible with versions prior to MediaPortal 2.1 Pre Release. The installer will recognize an existing incompatible database and rename it before upgrading the system to the new version.
• If you are upgrading from an earlier version than MediaPortal 2.1 you will need to redo your server settings including the setup of media sources. MediaPortal 2.1.3 will automatically scan each path and import online information as per your settings to allow using all the new features.
• Weather: If you are upgrading from an already installed MediaPortal 2 version prior to MP 2.1.1, all previously defined locations are incompatible with the new Weather provider of MediaPortal 2 and need to be deleted. To do so start the client application and immediately navigate to the respective setting entry at Settings | Plugins | Weather | Locations and delete all displayed locations.

Importer

An overworked Data Base structure was introduced offering many improvements and features. It offers content group support for audio, stub support, user support, some new indexes for speed improvements, faster searching and correct ordering of artists, actors etc.

By adding an async task handling we could also avoid the second importer run known from MP2.1 and improve the resource usage in idle or during import resulting in a better performance.

The new DB structure is imcompatible with previous versions, but when upgrading Media Portal from a previous version the server will recognize old DB’s from MP2.1.x and upgrade them *automatically *on first start. You will not loose any of your media items, watched status etc. An indicator in client informs you about the upgrade progress.

With Media Re-import it is finally possible to correct or adjust wrongly imported media items manually comfortably from within client. You can select the best result from auto matcher or manually search by media name or identification number (IMBD, TvDB, …). You can simply access the re-import feature from context menu of a focused media item.

WMC Skin

We improved and expanded WMC skin features refreshing its style to look more modern.

Home Content
Home Content is offering quick and comfortable access to media items and further information in home screen, if activated in skin settings. You be able to see instantly the latest added media items continue watching the latest watched movies, see your favourite music, which you were playing frequently. You can also directly select current running TV programs or favourite TV-channels directly from HomeScreen. You can comfortably switch between HomeMenu and HomeContent with “Info” (remote) or “I” (keyboard). It’s definitely a feature you don’t want to miss again.

You are now able to switch between banners, posters and thumbnails for movies and series in skin settings.

Other WMC skin changes

• Higher resolution for menu images
• Improved HomeMenu navigation with mouse (vertical navigation buttons)
• Now the clock appears on the top right corner of the screen when the OSD is shown on Movies and TV Series playback
• When playing a live video, it now shows as background in the home screen
• Player controls for DVD’s added in «WMC design»
• Added disc# to AudioListViews
• Removed animated Aurora Background, also remove it in skin settings

A specially designed WMC skin addresses the needs of former Windows Media Center users. This skin with its two themes Default and Dark offers the same experience that you were used to while providing additional features that make it even better than Windows Media Center.

После того, как мы запустим приложение, интерфейс появляется это сияет в визуальном плане , который мы даже можем настроить, выбрав тип отображения по категориям, а также добавив фоновые изображения и элементы, которые будут отображаться в главном меню. По умолчанию у нас будет доступ к ТВ, видео, музыке, изображениям и радио. Все можно настроить так, чтобы получить безупречную навигацию и визуальное представление. В правом столбце у нас будет прямой доступ к наиболее важным функциям. Мы можем изменить скины интерфейса в разделах «Настройки» и «Скины», чтобы выбрать тот, который нам больше всего подходит.

Онлайн-видео

Из этого раздела мы можем получить доступ к каналам онлайн-видеоплатформы. В нем мы можем найти его в разбивке по странам или по всему миру. По странам у нас есть Испания, где мы можем получить доступ к таким каналам, как La 1, La 2, Teledeporte, и иметь доступ ко всему их контенту. Во всем мире мы можем получить доступ к таким платформам, как Netflix, Last.fm, Pokémon TV и MusicTelevisión.

TV

В случае наличия телевизионный тюнер установлен на нашем компьютере , мы можем получить к нему доступ через раздел ТВ. Здесь мы можем смотреть телепередачи в прямом эфире, консультироваться с гидом, программировать, искать любой канал или даже делать записи.

Новости

Из этого раздела мы можем иметь доступ ко всем новостям в сети . По умолчанию включены две страницы новостей, но мы можем настроить их, добавляя и удаляя элементы, из которых они состоят. В разделе настроек мы можем добавить наши любимые веб-сайты, чтобы иметь возможность обращаться к ним прямо из приложения. Имейте в виду, что мы можем добавлять веб-сайты, совместимые с RSS .

Погода

Здесь мы можем добавить наше местоположение из соответствующего раздела настроек и таким образом иметь возможность проверить время графически в любое время. Появляется время, доступное как для того же дня, так и для последующих дней, а также показывает максимальную и минимальную температуру, а также степень влажности. Мы можем добавить наше местоположение вручную с помощью значка «Местоположение», который будет делать это автоматически через наше местоположение.

Другое

Из этого раздела у нас будет доступ к нашему местная библиотека , откуда мы можем воспроизводить видео, музыку и изображения, просто получив доступ к его местоположению на жестком диске. Мы также можем активировать Музыкальный проигрыватель и добавить плейлист. Кроме того, мы можем ввести Глобальные настройки откуда устанавливать плагины и досконально настраивать все разделы этого комплекта.

Выводы

Если нам нужен мощный мультимедийный центр с множеством опций и широкими возможностями настройки, с широким спектром опций и плагинов для установки, MediaPortal — отличный вариант. Конечно, только самые продвинутые пользователи сможет получить от этого максимум удовольствия. Мы также должны иметь в виду, что это не совсем легкое приложение, так как оно потребляет большое количество системных ресурсов, что необходимо учитывать, если мы собираемся использовать его для чего-то другого, кроме воспроизведения видео. Его наибольшая полезность, несомненно, в качестве мультимедийного центра, который можно полностью использовать с телевизором с самого компьютера.

Extended subtitle support: All kinds of subtitles (DVB, Closed Captions, Teletext) can now be displayed. Individual settings allow users to customize which kind of subtitles they wish MediaPortal to support.
N.B.: When in window-mode, a remaining problem may lead to ‘Teletext’ subtitles being cut-off at the left and right side of the window.

Recording skin functionality: All recording functons in the different menus have been stream-lined. Recordings can now be scheduled from more places using the record button. Recording options have been expanded.

Previous programm: pressing «0» on the remote or keyboard will now switch back to the previously watched channel.

EPG:

‘Single Channel’ will now display the complete available guide.
Improved one-button navigation allows to quickly move 12 hrs (Next/Prev) or 24 hrs (Fwd/Rew).
Start and end of the MiniEPG channel list can now quickly be reached with either Home/End on a keyboard or Prev/Next on a remote.
Typing a channel number will highlight the respective channel in the EPG.

Запуск DLNA сервера на Windows 10 стандартными средствами

Выше мы рассмотрели способ, когда с компьютера можно отправлять файлы на телевизор. Но, есть еще отличная возможность, когда мы с телевизора сможем просматривать все файлы (к которым открыт доступ), которые хранятся на нашем компьютере. Думаю, именно это вам необходимо.

Для запуска DLNA сервера можно использовать сторонние программы, например, «Домашний медиа-сервер (UPnP, DLNA, HTTP)». О настройке с помощью этой программы я писал в статье настройка DLNA сервера для телевизора Philips. Смотрим фильмы с компьютера на телевизоре. Эта программа подходит для всех телевизоров. Но у каждого производителя, как правило, есть своя программа. У LG, например, это Smart Share. О настройке которой я писал здесь.

Ну а с другой стороны, зачем нам сторонние программы, если в Windows 10 все можно настроить встроенными средствами.

1 Первым делом нам нужно открыть «Параметры потоковой передачи мультимедиа». Находится этот пункт в панели управления. Можно просто в поиске начать вводить его название и запустить.

2 В новом окне нажимаем на кнопку «Включить потоковую передачу мультимедиа». Тем самым мы включаем DLNA сервер в Windows 10.

3 Дальше укажите название своего DLNA сервера. Затем, в списке устройств вы можете разрешить, или запретить доступ к медиа-серверу для определенного устройства в вашей сети. Если вы подключены к своей домашней сети, то можете оставить все устройства.

Если вашего телевизора в списке не будет, то немного подождите. Либо закройте и заново откройте настройки потоковой передачи мультимедиа.

Возле каждого устройства будет кнопка «Настроить…». Если необходимо, то вы можете задать индивидуальные настройки для каждого устройства.

4 Теперь на телевизоре можно получить доступ к запущенному серверу. На разных телевизорах это выглядит по-разному. На телевизорах Philips (с Android TV), например, нужно запустить приложение Медиа. Или выбрать этот источник в доступных источниках сигнала.

Как можно увидеть на скриншоте выше, доступ сразу будет открыт к трем стандартным папкам: «Видео», «Изображения», «Музыка». Все файлы, которые находятся в этих папках, вы сможете просматривать на телевизоре.

Эти три папки находятся на системном диске. Согласитесь, не очень удобно все время копировать туда необходимые фильмы и другие файлы, чтобы смотреть их с телевизора. Поэтому, можно просто открыть общий доступ к другим папкам.

MediaPortal — это бесплатная программа с открытым исходным кодом, которую мы можем загрузить с сайт разработчика . Имеет две версии одной и той же программы, МедиаПортал 1 (MP1) и MediaPortal 2 (MP2), оба бесплатные. MP1 — исходная версия, и в настоящее время для нее доступно больше надстроек, она полностью стабильна и получает обновления, поскольку ее версия 1.26 соответствует ноябрю 2020 года. MP2 — это новая версия, разработанная на основе MP1, с меньшим количеством надстроек, но такая же удобная и стабильная. Его последняя версия 2.3 и соответствует октябрю 2020 года. Оба совместимы с Windows.
